Written by admin

Residents of Japandu, a farming community near Kuntenanse but fall within the Bosomefreho District of Ashanti Region have blamed the death of pregnant women and their unborn babies on the bad road network in the area.

The residents have therefore appealed to government to fixed the roads in the community.

According to the residents, the bad road has led to the demise of more than seven people including pregnant women.

The pregnant women are alleged to have died while been transporting to the nearest Health Facility during labor on a motorcycle at Kuntenanse in the Bosomtwe District.

Motorcycles are most of the time mode of transportation in the community due to the poor state of the roads as no vehicle ply the route.

There is no healthcare facility for communities with a population of more than three thousand people, forcing pregnant women and the sick to seek medical care in Kuntenanse, the district capital of Bosomtwe, or Asiwa, the district capital of Bosomefreho District.

Speaking to Silver Fm’s Akwadaa Nyame, the residents of the area noted that, the poor Network has affected the sales of their farm produce as it becomes difficult for them to transport foodstuffs to the market.

Also, purchasers of farm produce from the farmers are unable to do business with them anymore because the place is inaccessible.

They appealed to government to come to their aid.

The chief of the area bemoaned the absence of the school feeding in their only school.

According to him, the school feeding will help the children but because there is no one in the school, the children find it difficult to attend school because the school is very far from their home.

The chief added that, most of the parents could not afford to give their children money to school and besides, since the place is a village, there is no food to buy even if the child has been given money.
